Dermaplaning is a skin exfoliation treatment using a medical-grade surgical blade at a 45 degree angle to remove dead skin cells and fine hair or peach fuzz from the skin. Dermaplaning helps make your skin look brighter, smoother creating a more even skin tone. In addition, it cleans and exfoliates your skin to allow your skin care products to be even more effective by allowing them to penetrate the skin easier.
Dermaplaning gently shaves the top layer of your skin, allowing healthy skin to appear. The treatment also helps remove surface acne scarring over time. Dermaplaning is safe and can be used on any skin type or color. It is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well.
Actual treatment time averages around 30 minutes, depending on size of the area being treated. Dermaplaning is not a painful procedure and topical numbing is not necessary.
The side effects of dermaplaning can be a slight redness due to the exfoliation, however, this symptom goes away quickly. New skin often appears red and appears slightly plumper. Always use sunscreen when exposing your skin to the sunlight, even in the winter months. Sunscreen will be applied after your treatment, as well.

Dermaplaning is not a permanent treatment. This treatment clears up to several weeks of dead skin cells until your skin naturally renews about every 4 weeks on average. Maintenance for dermaplaning should be every 4-6 weeks as a stand alone or add on treatment.

You may have a light redness or feel as if you have a slight sunburn after having this exfoliative treatment, however this resolves quickly.
